U2 Will Cash In On Painting

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Adam Clayton

A painting by the late artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, which is currently owned by U2, will be auctioned off at Sotheby’s of London on July 1st. Back in 1989, bassist Adam Clayton spotted the work of art, estimated to be worth 8 MILLION DOLLARS (GBP 4 Million), in a New York gallery and the band decided to purchase it to decorate their Dublin studio. Now Bono, Adam, the Edge and Larry can laugh their way to the bank (more than they do already) when it goes under the hammer next month.

The rich just keep getting richer, eh? The old saying holds true…”it takes money to make money”!

The Edge

This is great news for U2 fans out there. On July 22nd, early U2 albums “Boy”, “War” and “October” will be reissued and will include unreleased and rare stuff. These new CDs will feature a variety of music never heard before, including a mix of “I Will Follow”, various live tracks taped at London’s Hammersmith Palais, remixes of “New Years Day” and a club version of “Two Hearts Beat As One”.

I really cannot wait to buy these. I need my U2 fix and I need it now!

Bono celebrates with Brad Pitt

Bono

Bono celebrated his 48th birthday on May 10th in grand style, with a bash being thrown at a chic cafe in Monaco (of course it must be chic, it’s in Monaco) by his beautiful brunette wife, Ali Hewson. Imagine his surprise when in walks none other than Hollywood Heartthrob himself, Mr. Brad Pitt. Pitt came withtout his better half, the word’s skinniest pregnant woman Angelina. Also at the event was Prince Albert II of Monaco and Bono’s pal The Edge. Now that is one party I would’ve loved to attend. I guess my invitation got lost in the mail. Oh well, there’s always next year.

Happy Belated Birthday to Bono, and many more!

U2 Starts Over and Get Serious Now

U2 are reportedly scrapping all of the tracks they’ve written for their next album and are starting all over again which means ditching a year’s worth of work. Ouch! The rockers have been working for the past year but they’re quite unhappy with the results. The Edge revealed that the band has mostly messed around and now they’ve decided to really get to work and finish the new record. He told Cmumusic.com

:

“We went into this project allowing ourselves the indulgence of making music without thinking about where it was going to end up. We’re starting to get serious now”.

Can’t wait for the new album & the new tour!
