Last week, vandals got at a garden sculpture of The Beatles in their home town of Liverpool and chopped the head off the figure of Ringo Starr. The figure was removed and taken to a nursery for repair.
Could this incident have anything to do with the less-than-flattering things that Ringo recently let fly concerning the city where he was born and raised?????
In a recent interview on US TV Show ‘On The Record’, Ringo spoke about how the musicial explosion of the 60s never would’ve happened if the Army hadn’t done away with mandatory national service.
“We were the first generation that didn’t go into the army. I missed the call up by, like, 10 months, and so we were allowed, as these teenagers, not to be regimented and turn into these musicians.”
If you stop and think about it, the world would be a different place today had all of the British musical greats of the 60s served in the army. Kind hard to imagine John, Paul, George and Ringo wearing army uniforms, isn’t it?
The peace symbol flashing drummer also went on to explain how badly he sucked as a drummer when he first started out…
“I’d got this kit of drums, I had no sense of time. I was just hitting these things and going faster and faster… That’s how I started.”
I guess there’s hope for all aspiring musicians, eh? Don’t give up!
The Reuniting Rumor Mill is churning once again. Beatles fans are abuzz over reports that Paul and Ringo may Come Together to perform at a secret gig in Liverpool at the end of May. Can you imagine? OMG, all hell would break loose! As you know by now, Paul is slated to appear at Anfield Stadium on June 1 in the city where it all began. If my intuition is correct, I have an idea or two where this dream gig may take place. Stay tuned, kiddies.
A man died just days after getting caught breaking into Ringo’s apartment complex in Chelsea.
The 32 year-old was caught by the security guards after he broke into the complex. He collapsed while waiting for police to be taken in custody. He was then taken to the hospital where he died 4 days later.
It is unknown yet whether he tried to get to Ringo or just steal from rich people living in the complex.
That is so scary! Good thing he was caught before getting to Ringo!
As reported before a photograph exhibition of Linda McCartney opened in London today.
The exhibition includes portraits of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel, Gilbert & George and Mick Jagger. It also presents landscapes, intimate interiors, self-portraits and family life.
