Paul McCartney Takes Matters Into His Own Hands

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Yes, that’s right…our hero Sir Paul McCartney has finally taken matters into his own hands.   Security matters, that is.   Tonight, September 25,  Paul is due to perform in Tel Aviv, Israel under very stressful conditions, I might add.  As you probably know by now,  militant suicide bomber type individuals have threatened to cause havoc at the concert and Paul McCartney is taking no chances.

He actually hired a team of 5,000 security people to protect him and his entourage at the event.   Wow!  I feel so much better now, really I do!   Twenty of Israel’s elite Mossad intelligence organization as well as officers from the British tough guys M16 will be present, among many other assorted security professionals.

Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper has been told…

“No one is taking anything for granted. The level of security is unlike anything we’ve seen.  Everything is being done to ensure that this passes peacefully and witout incident.”

I kinda figured Paul would take this route, he’d be crazy not to.  Well, Cheers Paul!  Here’s to a wonderful, peaceful show tonight in Israel.

Paul McCartney Concert

Paul McCartney has arrived in Israel and is preparing to play his historic gig tomorrow in Tel Aviv. Despite protesters calling for a boycott of the concert for political reasons and terrorist threats, Macca will play in front of 50,000 fans. After landing at Ben Gurion airport, Paul was whisked away to his hotel where he managed to dodge the paparazzi by sending a decoy car to the front entrance of the hotel, while he entered through the rear entrance.

Let’s hope that things go smoothly at this concert, and that everyone concerned is safe and sound.

Paul McCartney Gets By With A Little Help From The Dalai Lama

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Paul McCartney has received a gift from the Dalai Lama, can you believe that?  Uh huh, it’s true!

Anticipating  Paul’s upcoming gig tomorrow in Israel, the Dalai has sent him a book entitled “The Universe In A Single Atom”, with the aim being to help Paul get through his tough time ahead.

To say this event tomorrow is nerve-wracking for everyone involved is putting it mildly.  Suicide bombers have threatened to target the event,  but Paul is trying hard not to let it get the better of him.  In true McCartney fashion, he philosophises…

“I think we’re at a very interesting stage in human development and I just hope for the best and I’m optimistic about it. I’m not so much religious as someone who likes to think I take the best from many religions: the best of what they all have to say. They obviously have a lot of things in common.

He also goes on to say…

“the world is a magnificent place and that we are blessed to be on it.”

My goodness, what a man!  He seems to be very calm and cool under this immense pressure he’s facing by performing for the fans in Israel.  History will be made tomorrow evening, and let’s all hope and pray that Paul and all of his people are safe as the eyes of the world will be on Tel Aviv.

Ted Nugent Offers Bodyguard Service To Paul McCartney

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Rocker Ted Nugent has offered to be Sir Paul McCartney’s personal bodyguard when Macca heads to Tel Aviv for his concert on Thursday Sept. 25.  Nugent, most famous for his hit ‘Cat Scratch Fever’, is urging Sir Paul to seriously consider his offer.  No matter that McCartney is a vegetarian and animal rights activist, and Nugent is a National Rifle Association official and avid hunter, Nugent says:

“Regardless that Paul and I have our obvious social, cultural, and culinary differences outside of music, I will not bend or waiver to voodoo religious whackjobs and neither should Paul.”

He goes on to say,

“It would be my pleasure to keep this legendary musical hero safe from terrorists and mad men, and then buy him a nice dinner of tofu. I’m Dirty Harry with a ponytail, and I’m at Paul’s service.”

Heather Mills Subject of British Documentary

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Heather Mills

Sir Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills will reportedly be the subject of an upcoming British TV documentary.  British broadcaster Louis Theroux, who previously made a revealing documentary on Michael Jackson, will interview Mills.   Theroux is said to be interested in speaking publicly with Mills on her ugly divorce from Sir Paul.  Mills is said to be hoping the interview will help to change the public’s negative opinion of her.

A source said,

“Heather reckons she has been very badly treated so she wants to redress that balance and change people’s perceptions.”

Theroux said,

“Heather would be a fascinating person to meet. She needs to show her side of the story, which, for one reason or another, isn’t coming through.”

I believe we’ve all heard her ’side of the story’.  That seems to be the reason for her unpopularity.

Sean Lennon Reveals John Lennon’s Temper

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Most Beatles fans know the legendary John Lennon had a temper, but not too many have heard Sean Lennon talk about it as he remembers how it was for him as a young child. It also sounds like John was tormented soon afterward by his volatile behavior.

One night in particular, Sean Lennon said that his dad yelled at him so loud that he ended up damaging his hearing, according to the New York Post Page Six. In Philip Norman’s new biography, John Lennon: The Life, Sean explained the incident:

“[He was] teaching me how to cut and eat steak, which was a mystery to me at age 4; how to stick the fork in and cut behind it, and that was how you got a piece in your mouth. I think it was that night when he got very upset with me, I think because of something I did very cheekily with the steak. He did wind up yelling at me very, very loudly to the point where he damaged my ear, and I had to go to the hospital.”

Sean also described John as being mortified by what he did:

“I remember when I was lying on the floor and hurting, and him holding me and saying, ‘I’m so sorry.’ He did have a temper.”

He also shared some of John’s sensitive side:

“I remember one time he accidentally let one of the heavy wooden doors at The Dakota slam on my finger. And he was very upset about that. My fingernail eventually fell off. Another time, Alice, our black cat, had jumped out the window after a pigeon and died, and I remember that was the only time, I think, I ever saw my dad cry.”

Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson And Others Team Up For ‘Heroes’ Album

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Paul McCartney Concert

A new album in the works entitled ‘Heroes’, will be released on November 22nd and it promises to deliver something totally different.   The charity War Child will benefit from the musical contributions of great names like Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and The Clash.

All of these artists, and then some, have chosen songs from their back catalalogues to be covered by young and hip present day artists like The Kooks, Rufus Wainwright and Duffy, who has been chosen by Paul McCartney to cover his huge hit ‘Live and Let Die’.  Bob Dylan even asked Beck to cover his song’Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat’.

Paul McCartney had this to say about the new project…

“I have been supporting War Child since 1995. Their work with children in war zones saves lives and their work with those who take decisions that help them to do something about it saves even more lives.

“I think Duffy’s version of ‘Live And Let Die’ is great - I was really impressed. The breadth of talent on this project is amazing; it’s great that so many people gave their time, energy and support to this initiative. I urge everyone to support War Child.”

Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?  You’ll have to wait until November 22nd to have a listen though.  Hey, might even make a good Christmas present for that hard- to- buy -for music lover on your list!

The Beatles Still Continue To Inspire A New Generation

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

This falls under the “Bet Ya Didn’t Know This!” category…

Bet ya didn’t know that the Jonas Brothers (alright there, I can hear you all saying ‘yeeccchh’ at the same time..now stop that!) look to The Beatles for the inspiration in song writing.  Surprise, surprise, right?  Well I think it’s cool that much younger musicians stilll look to Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr when trying to find ideas to write and sing about.

The Jonas Brothers have even gone so far as to call The Beatles their “idols” but they want to make it clear that they, in no way, compare themselves to the Fabs (who the hell in their right mind would???)  They wrote on their website…

“It is an honour BUT we definitely DO NOT compare ourselves to the Beatles.  We look to them as a source of inspiration but we don’t think anyone will have the impact that the Beatles have had on music.”

It’s just so incredible how, 45 years after appearing on the scene, those 4 glorious lads from Liverpool keep inspiring a whole new generation of young men and women  to learn to play and write music.

Another Message From Paul McCartney To The People Of Israel

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Here is another video message from Paul McCartney to the people of Israel. Paul will be performing in Tel Aviv on Thursday, September 25th.

Heather Mills Is a Comedienne

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Heather Mills has taken on a new role: comedienne. That’s right, Heather is now entertaining us with some very, very funny things that she has been saying as of late…are you ready?

“The public adore me…I haven’t got a bad word to say about Paul…men are falling over themselves to ask me out…my only interest in life is helping others.”

Mills gave an “unintentionally hilarious” interview to the British newpaper, The Daily Mail, and said some things that were indicative that the woman is truly certifiable. Here’s more:

“Am I happy? Well, I’m getting there and I hope to be one day very soon.”

“I’ve been single for two-and-a-half years now, so yeah, I’m ready to start dating again. Do I have lots of men hitting on me? Always! It’s very flattering. I’m not looking for any particular type of man, I don’t have an ideal. I’m open to different types of people and I’m now in a position to feel ready to move on and build a new relationship.”

Mills claims that she wants to move on and devote her time to charity. She spends half her time in the US, where daughter Beatrice attends school. Heck, this Mother Teresa wannabe is even cooking vegan meals for 1000 poor children in the Bronx! Here’s another good one:

“Sometimes I think why do I keep doing this? Why do I keep battering away at my charity work? Especially when people keep saying these awful things about me. I’m only human and it’s very depressing. It would be easier to just give up, but these are things I really care about. Children, the disabled, animals, so I go on.’”

If you you need a good laugh, and you don’t have a weak stomach (it will make you sick! ) go and read the complete interview.
