Linda McCartney’s Frozen Foods Have Long Future Ahead in Fakenham

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

It’s really great to read that Linda McCartney’s frozen food brand will be around for a long time, according to Fakenham bosses. Fakenham-based frozen vegetarian food range has announced it will add three new product lines.

The new lines include: vegetarian mince, vegetarian “meatballs,” and vegetarian “chicken-style” pieces which are all part of a review of the producer’s portfolio and a rejuvenation of the brand.

Newly appointed executive chairman of the firm, Peter McPhilips has promised to revitalize the brand with “the full blessing and support of Sir Paul McCartney and his family.”

Linda’s frozen food line is made under licence by Hain Celestial at its Holt Road site in Fakenham, bought by the UK-wide group in 2006 from Heinz Frozen and Chilled Foods.

The hope is that the new lines of frozen foods will serve as a revitalization to the brand as well as provide vegetarian cooks with an alternative to meat.

Surprisingly, the brands sales had fallen to $20 million prior to a relaunch at the end of last year compared with sales of $80 million when Linda’s line was introduced.

Great stuff - I’ve actually tried some of Linda’s frozen foods and it’s a pretty good line.

Paul Makes ‘Revenge’ Trip to Liverpool Church

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Paul McCartney

When Paul McCartney presents his classical choral piece on Thursday night at Liverpool cathedral, the music legend will no doubt be thinking of a rather ironic experience from many years ago .

Sir Paul was 11 years old when, in 1953, he auditioned to join the cathedral’s choir and was rejected after his performance of Once In Royal David’s City failed to impress the choirmaster. The iconic musician joked,

“I got turned down so this is my revenge trip,”.

He is set to present his composition Ecce Cor Meum, which he dedicated to his late wife Linda McCartney and was named as best album at last year’s Classical Brit Awards.

Sir Paul McCartney revealed that his wife Linda was unaware that her breast cancer was so advanced when she died. Apparently, Paul chose not to tell her because he wanted her to enjoy the time she had left. What a selfless act - it just shows how much he truly loved her.

James Hyman Gallery and Paul McCartney are delighted to announce an exhibition of photographs by Linda McCartney.

This is the first major exhibition of platinum prints by Linda McCartney to be presented in the UK. With the full support of Paul McCartney and his family, this exhibition is the result of a three-year collaboration with gallerist and art historian James Hyman.

Paul McCartney says: “An exhibition presenting the range of Linda’s photographic work is long overdue, so I’m obviously pleased that this show is happening. James Hyman, my daughter Mary, and I have worked on it now for three years, and the result is a sensitive selection of works that really demonstrates Linda’s creative output as a photographer. The photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist, but as someone who was very much connected to the culture of the times, and wasn’t afraid to challenge herself, or her subject.”

Photographed from the 1960s up until the late 1990s, these pictures present a personal record of the times and feature many rarely seen works, as well as better known images.

The exhibition includes portraits of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel, Gilbert & George and Mick Jagger. It also presents landscapes, intimate interiors, self-portraits and family life.

To ensure each photographic print remains true to Linda McCartney’s vision Paul Caffell (with whom she worked throughout her career) has personally printed each platinum print, whilst Paul and Mary McCartney oversaw the process and gave final approval.

Beautifully presented as large platinum prints, the photographs are for sale in very limited editions, and authenticated with a certificate signed by Paul McCartney.

In addition, a catalogue will be available with personal contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Peter Blake, Brian Clarke, Humphrey Ocean and Paul Caffell.
