Zak Starkey Forms New Family Band

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Zak Starkey

Zak Starkey has reportedly formed a new band with his girlfriend Sharna Liguz and his daughter Tatia Starkey, just three months after leaving Oasis. Apparently, Starkey walked away from Noel and Liam Gallagher after an argument and has put together a new group called Penguins. Starkey told NME:

“Penguins is about having a good time, and that’s what we’re doing.”

Sharna will do vocals and Tatia will play bass with Ringo Starr’s son. It would be great to see the former Beatle join in on the family fun too.

The Fur Flies As Stella McCartney Sees Red

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Stella McCartney, fashion designer extraordinare daughter of Paul McCartney, is pissed off royal.  Wanna know why?  Well, I’ll tell you….as you all may or may not know, Stella is a strict vegetarian and a HUGE supporter of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).  She even held the Peta Humanitarian Awards ceremony at her designer clothing boutique in Mayfair, London back in 2006.  Anyway, an ad in the latest issue of Vogue magazine shows a bra from Stella’s lingerie collection peeking out from underneath a $13,000 full length mink coat.  To add insult to injury, the coat was cinched at the waist with a big ass black leather belt.  Ouchie.  Needless to say when Stella caught a gander (no pun intended) at this ad, she was a tad miffed.

‘Stella went absolutely ballistic when she saw it,’ a source at Ms McCartney’s store in Mayfair told The Mail on Sunday. ‘I have never seen her so angry. She hit the roof and said that she planned to sue.

It actually sounds like an innocent mistake by the people at Hockley, the fashion house that designs the fur coats.  A source from Stella McCartney said that a sylist that they have worked with in the past asked to borrow some samples from Stella’s collection.

‘A stylist asked to borrow lingerie to use for an editorial fashion shoot in April,’ the source said. ‘The stylist made a mistake and used it in an advertising campaign instead, under a fur coat, without telling Stella McCartney or seeking her approval.

Apologies to Stella have been issued along with the usual sucking up, the ad has been yanked from future publication and hopefully Stella McCartney will sleep soundly tonight knowing that her reputation as a staunch PETA supporter is indeed, intact.

Right on, Stella.  I’m glad she found out and went crazy on Hockleys.  Lesson to be learned - nobody pushes the McCartney clan around and gets away with it!

Dhani Harrison and Julian Lennon Find It Isn’t Easy Being A Beatles Son

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Dhani Harrison

Just because Dhani Harrison and Julian Lennon have two of the most famous musicians in the world for dads, don’t expect that to be their ticket to fame.   Julian hit it big with his debut album “Valotte” back in 1984 but after that success, he failed to gather anymore fame based on his music.  Right now he’s on an eight year sabattical from recording music and is indulging himself in some of his other interests like cooking, photography and even interior design.   But all is not lost if you’re a fan of Julian Lennon.  Look for his new album entitled “Conscious” due out later this year.  I’m looking forward to this, I just love his style!

As for George Harrison’s son Dhani, he’s been busy with his band “thenewno2″ and their new album, but for him it just seems to be more of a hobby than a career that he’s pursuing.  There really hasn’t been much press coverage of his new project.  He is going on tour this fall in California so that’s an opportunity to check him out and show some support.

Now Sean Lennon is another matter.  He’s more into the music industry than any of the other Beatles kids, maybe because he has his mum Yoko there to encourage and back him.  Currently, he’s scoring film soundtracks and producing other artists, as well as working on a new album.

I don’t know about you, but I love hearing what the Beatle kids are up to, especially musically.  Now if only we can find out about James McCartney, eh?  He’s a bit on the elusive side, but hopefully someday we’ll get some insight into my favorite Beatle’s (Paul McCartney) only son.

Julian Lennon Is Tired Of The Crazies On MySpace

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Poor Julian Lennon! Apparently some Beatles fans stalk him on MySpace. Check out his blog entry from few days ago:

Album et al….
Current mood: In good spirits…. Let the Games begin!

Dear Folks, due to the workload of finishing the album over the next month & a half & the organisation that it’s going to take to get the album out there,I won’t really be spending much time here on Myspace.I will check in once in a while, but not nearly as frequently as I have been & I will not be writing to individual friends anymore, due to the fact that many have been insincere about their motives as friends, & to be honest with you,I’ve just about had enough of all the BULL that I’ve come across & had to deal with. I thought I’d seen some head-games played in My time, but there’s a few out there that just take the fruitcake! Nasty, nasty, miserable, self absorbed people!

I am hard at work on many, many projects now & feel that Myspace has distracted me somewhat from my work.I will, of course, still be posting the occasional Blog,in regards to upcoming events & environmental issues which I’m trying to help. Obviously,as One man,I cannot change the problems of this world, but with the good & honest friends I have met here, we can certainly try & make a difference! There are many, many nay-sayers, who would try to stop positive change,as been witnessed clearly on myspace, but I/we will not give up.
This is not goodbye. This is just a break I think we all need. We’ve been in each others pockets a little too closely & for a little too long. Time for a breather!
I wish all of you good, honest, kind hearted friends all the best, but I wish the rest of the fruitcakes out there would just grow up & get a life! & stop pissing on other peoples generosity of heart, kindness & good will.
Until next we speak…. Have a wonderful summer & live life to the fullest!

P.S. Please let me know when the book is due ou

Stella Says Linda is Her Inspiration

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Stella McCartney says that her late mother, Linda, has been her inspiration in her work and would have been proud of her efforts to promote environmental issues. Stella is launching an eco-organic range of products in her fashion business, and credits her mother with bringing her up with an awareness of all things related to the environment. As we know, Linda and Paul McCartney were staunch vegetarians and Paul, to this day, still shuns leather, fur, or any product made from an animal, and promotes vegetarianism and animal rights at any opportunity.

Stella said:

“I think mum would be really proud of me because I have actually done something in fashion. I’ve added to the McCartney pie. There’s no one else who does what I do and I love that.

“My mother was amazing. So much of what I do and what I stand for comes from her and the way I was brought up. In the fashion world, I’m viewed as this mad hippy because I won’t use leather or fur and I bang on about taking environmental issues seriously and being vegetarian.”

I admire Stella and her commitment to what she believes in. I think she is very much her own person (especially in the often pretentious, cut-throat fashion industry), and I too, believe that Linda would have been extremely proud of her daughter.

Stella McCartney Ashamed of Beatle Dad Paul McCartney!

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Stella McCartney, embarrassed of her Beatle daddy Paul???? Yup, it’s true and I must say ‘What the hell is that girl crazy???” She didn’t want to be seen with him, can you believe that? What is that girl smoking?? Anyway, here is what she has to say on the subject…

“I spent half my life denying that Paul McCartney was my dad,” she told Grazia magazine. “My biggest fear as a kid was being late for school and missing the bus, because it meant dad would take me in his Mercedes. I was mortified each time”

Now I guess it’s the same all over the world. Some kids just don’t want to be seen with their parents, no matter WHO they are! But can you imagine this? Sorry, I’m having a hard time dealing with this one!

Paul McCartney To Quit Touring?

Paul McCartney Concert

Paul McCartney is set to announce a massive farewell tour, according to reports.

The UK press is claiming that Macca is soon to confirm a hundred-date stretch over two years, after which time he will retire from large-scale international touring to spend more time with his young daughter Beatrice. The Sunday Mirror quotes a source close to McCartney as saying:

“Paul explained that this tour will be the last big one. He wants to settle down and enjoy Beatrice’s childhood. The tour will be the last time he performs in many parts of the world. Beatrice and his family life are going to come first. He does not want to be away for months at a time.”

I’m not surprised. In two years, Paul will be 68 and certainly deserves to stay put and relax. We know that Paul loves performing to live audiences with his kick-ass band though, so who knows? Never say never!
