Fans Hopes for a Led Zeppelin Tour Diminished

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Robert Plant

This is such sad news! Apparently, reports indicate that a Led Zeppelin tour is “dead in the water” according to Gerry Toms, Millennium Stadium manager.
He told NME:

“It’s dead in the water. Because the concert ( at London’s O2 arena last December) was a success there was hope of a tour, but that was a lot of speculation. It would be great if they would, but as far as we know that is dead in the water.”

Something tells me that the rumors will continue, but I’m really bummed to hear this news. Damn!

Led Zeppelin Tour Faces Delay

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Robert Plant

Let’s not hold our breath for that eagerly anticipated Led Zeppelin reunion tour. It appears that Robert Plant’s partnership with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss has been so successful, that the duo has decided to add dates to their concert tour, which has been in progress for awhile now. Those dates will extend into early October, which means that any such tour planned by Led Zeppelin will have to wait until Plant is finished with his current project and becomes available.

So, it could very well be that this tour will not become a reality until who knows when. Well, we’ve waited this long; a little longer shouldn’t make any difference, right?

Led Zeppelin Tour Rumors Continue to Fly

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Robert Plant

It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer than expected for the long anticipated Led Zeppelin tour. Guitarist Jimmy Page has stated that band members were ready to reunite and perform more live events, but that any tour would have to wait until 2009, as band members would have to finish up individual projects.

So let’s not hold our breath on this one. It’s anyone’s guess right now when and if Zep will tour.

Led Zeppelin to Join Foo Fighters at Wembley

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Robert Plant

3 Members of Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant can’t make it, he’s touring America now so you figure out who will be there) will join David Grohl and his band The Foo Fighters when they play Wembley Stadium in London this week-end. Seems that Grohl was so awestruck by seeing Zep back in November at 02 Arena and he was determined to perform with them. After some collaboration between the two bands, they came to an agreement for Zep to perform 3 of their songs onstage with The Foo Fighters.

I just think this is so great of Zep to do this, and I’m thrilled that David Grohl is living out his childhood dream. I would love to be there for this and I can’t wait to hear how it all went down. Stay tuned….

Led Zeppelin’s Tour Promoter Denies Canada Tour Dates

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Robert Plant

Led Zeppelin’s tour promoter has reportedly denied hopes for a few live dates in Canada and insists the Toronto dates were just false “rumors.”

On Canada’s Much More Music website claimed that the rockers were going to do four shows at the Skydome/Rogers Centre in August.

Debra Rathwell, a spokeswoman for the band’s gig promoters Anschutz Entertainment Group Live, has dismissed the reports as hearsay, insisting there is no such tour planned. She explained:

“Alison Krauss and Robert Plant are touring together till at least the end of July, and Plant has made it perfectly clear that he doesn’t want to tour with Led Zeppelin. Of course, stranger things have happened, but I can tell you that my office is not involved in any Led Zeppelin concerts in Toronto or anywhere else.”

Robert Plant is still currently on tour with Alison Krauss promoting their album “Raising Sands” with shows in the U.S. and Europe.

Damn! I had my hopes up!!!

Led Zeppelin To Play In Toronto?

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Robert Plant
Rumor has it that Led Zeppelin are going to play 4 nights at the Skydome/Rogers Centre stadium in Toronto Canada. No US dates are set.

After their London show, the band was offered $200 million for a full scale tour.

I hope they tour the US as well! But if not, I may have to go to Toronto to see them!

Robert Plant asks “Tennis, Anyone?”

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Robert Plant

Who would ever guess that Lez Zeppelin’s curly topped Robert Plant would enjoy, of all things, tennis? No me, that’s for sure. I don’t know why but I just can’t picture him swinging a racket around and chasing after that little ball. At 59 years old he’s loving his hobby, about which he says…

“It (tennis) gives me a whole different circle of people to hang out with, who are charming.”

Charming, eh? I guess he doesn’t consider his rocker buddies to be “charming”. I’d like to see who he’s playing tennis with!

Led Zeppelin will mark their fortieth anniversary with a world tour, according to reports. It had previously been stated that the band would wait until September, to allow for other commitments to be settled, before making any decision on a tour. But now sources are saying that a tour could be in place, possibly as early as the end of this year. It’s also been reported that each member of the band stand to make as much as ten million British pounds (twenty million US) by touring.

So save up your pennies, all you Zeppelin fans. The ticket prices for shows on this tour will be sure to have you digging very, very deep into your pockets.

Robert Plant snubs Liam Gallagher

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

Robert Plant

Wowee-wow-wow…seems like Zep is in the news quite a bit these days. Dig this…Robert Plant had the balls to actually ask Liam Gallagher (Noel’s equally prickly brother, remember Oasis?) to leave his dressing room at Zep’s reunion gig in London back in November. The well coiffed Liam wandered backstage when he was spotted. A couple of nasty words were exchanged between Mr. Plant and Liam before Liam was shown the door marked EXIT. Ouch!! I wonder what kind of history the two of them have for this to have happened?

Led Zeppelin to receive Best Live Act award

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

Robert Plant

Led Zeppelin is slated to receive the Best Live Act honor at the Mojo Awards in London on June 16. There has been much talk about a possible reunion tour for the band, but so far nothing has materialized. For one thing, Robert Plant is busy these days touring with Allison Krause, so any touring for Led Zeppelin will have to wait until the Plant-Krause gig is completed. Needless to say, if Led Zeppelin were to reunite, it would be a blockbuster happening which would bring in a ton of money for the band, who, it’s safe to say, aren’t exactly wanting for cash.

When John Paul Jones was asked about a possible reunion album, he said

“I’m not too certain about anything at the moment. I’ve got no idea what’s going to happen, but I’d certainly like to play with Jimmy again.”
