Ringo Starr Warns Fans
October 13th, 2008
Ringo Starr has issued a warning on his website to fans. The former Beatle said:
“This is a serious message to everybody watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love. I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it’s gonna be tossed.
I’m warning you with peace and love I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing.
Anyway, peace and love, peace and love.”
So this means, we can still send things this week?

There has been a fair amount of negetive publicity about this move by Ringo. Many of the comments have been implying that Ringo has gone a little senile. That this is a damage limitation exercise. Note that he never drums alone now - always has a second drummer alongside him. And when he was filmed on his website he seemed quite incoherent. Could this be possible?

First, I never knew that you could send him stuff to get signed.
Second, he’s really being an ass to his fans!
THIS IS NOT COOL RINGO!

Greetings to Lilac Meanie and Green Meanie
I’ve been hearing reports that Ringo took this action to stop all the fools trying to make money off of his signature by selling the stuff on ebay. He’s pissed and at his wits end with helping to make these idiots rich. I don’t blame him. At first before I heard this report I was ticked at him too, but now I think he’s right. Peace and Love, Peace and Love from Pink Meanie

Greetings to you. Nothing anyone can do about Ebay. It is here for the time being. But if Ringo wants to say Peace and Love to everyone. At least he could say it with an element of sincerity. Not just spurt it out like a meaningless mantra. Don’t get me wrong I love Ringo but he does need to “get a grip”.

i think ringo has forgotten that his fans are the ones who made him famous.
with THAT face, he’d have gone nowhere without the other three.

[…] Starr recently announced he’s no longer answering letters and returning autographs. You might recall a Simpson’s episode showing him diligently answering all his fan mail. […]
