Ringo Starr has issued a warning on his website to fans. The former Beatle said:

“This is a serious message to everybody watching my update. Peace and love. Peace and love. I want to tell you after the 20th of October please do not send fan mail to any address you have. Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it’s gonna be tossed.

I’m warning you with peace and love I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing.

Anyway, peace and love, peace and love.”

So this means, we can still send things this week?

The half-sister of John Lennon, Julia Baird, is irritated at claims that John was abandoned by their mother, Julia. She was upset at comments made in relation to this in a new film about Lennon, which claimed he was a “lonely teenager abandoned by his mother”. Julia Baird said:

“John is no longer around to defend himself from some of the bizarre, sordid and downright scurrilous rumours which still, sadly, surround his extraordinary life.

“It makes me so sad, especially in recent weeks, when all manner of accusations have been flying about.

“In 2007, I wrote a book, Imagine This, which was my attempt to tell the truth about John’s childhood.

“John was removed from our mother Julia at the age of five to live with his aunt Mimi. He was not abandoned nor was he unloved, despite what the accepted tale might be.

“I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate once more the love our mother Julia had for both John and I.”

Sir Paul McCartney previewed his new album “Electronic Arguments” for journalists, and made some shocking statements regarding his latest project under the guise of The Fireman. Macca told the journalists that producer The Youth had encouraged him to improvise, which he admitted “could be a terrible mistake”. He went on to say:

“It could ruin my whole career. This could be the most embarrassing moment of my life.”

“Having written so much over the years, when I’m improvising I think I can spot what works.”

WTF??? I don’t think Paul needs to worry about anything ever ruining his career. I wonder if he was really serious when he said this?

Ooops! It seems that a story reported in the media regarding Paul McCartney being mad at McDonald’s for posting his picture and two of the other Beatles in one of their Liverpool restaurants is not true. Reports were that Macca himself called for a boycott of the McDonald’s chain, when in reality (at least according to Abbeyrd’s Beatles page) it was the organization PETA which called for the boycott. Included in the stories were quotes from Geoff Baker, listed as Paul’s spokesman, who in fact, hasn’t worked for Sir Paul since 2004. Supposedly, Baker was contacted by Liverpool’s Mercury Press Agency who asked him to comment. The agency then proceeded to incorrectly call him a “spokesman”, which was in turn, picked up by other press agencies and reported. The UK press reps for Macca then did damage control stating that Baker’s statements were  “not an official comment!”.

Poor Jo Wood is so distraught and confused by the mess her errant husband, Ronnie Wood, has made of their marriage, that she’s willing to take the sh*****d back. She wants to give him a “second chance”. Jo says:

“I don’t want to divorce Ronnie but I don’t know if he’ll come back. I really don’t know what is happening at the moment. I haven’t spoken to him about it.”

I think that both of them are crazy…his state of mind brought on by his addictions, hers brought on, thanks to him.

Bono is scoring a Broadway production, which is set to open next year. The musical, “Spiderman” is also expected to be the most expensive production in theater history. The show is currently operating on a $40 million budget, and if it is a hit, that could mean lots more cash in Bono’s already loaded pockets.

Certainly there are the anti-Bono people out there who are probably wishing and hoping that this production is a bomb. Those of us who are U2 fans wish him good luck with this effort. As always, Bono has his hands in many projects, but I had no idea that he was writing the music for a Broadway show, of all things.

Are Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart teaming up on a project?  A rep for Stewart says yes.  Jagger and Stewart were seen leaving a Los Angeles recording studio a few days after Stewart’s gig at The Roxy.  An announcement has not been made regarding the details of the collaboration.

I watched Dave Stewart on ABC’s The View last week with his band.  He did Eurythmics’ hits with a very good female singer.  The performance was fierce!

Ronnie Wood is reportedly putting off the planned reunion of his former band the Faces because he wants more money.  Ronnie’s ex-bandmate Rod Stewart is said to have initiated the idea of the reunion, which would include a tour and new album.  Wood , who reportedly has been spending money left and right on his Russian girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova, allegedly is haggling with Rod the Mod over the financial rewards of the tour.

A source says,

“Ronnie feels the money isn’t up to scratch. He has told Rod to up his current offer. But despite the haggling, there are no hard feelings and they hope to reach agreement soon.”

Unbelievably, tomorrow, October 9th, would have been John Lennon’s 68th birthday.  To commemorate John’s birthday, Yoko Ono is bringing  COME TOGETHER: A LOOK INTO JOHN LENNON’S LIFE THROUGH HIS ARTWORK, back to NYC for a 4 day showing.  The exhibit has been traveling around the world for 15 years. The collection features ‘hand-signed pieces and limited edition prints, as well as serigraphs, lithographs, copper etchings and aqua tints, all of which are available for sale’.  The exhibit runs from Thursday October 9th through Sunday October 12th at the Open House Gallery . A certain McDonalds restaurant in Liverpool has riled up Paul McCartney and rightly so.

As we all know, Paul is a staunch vegetarian and rejects anything having to do with meat and/or meat by-products, even wearing shoes that are made out of vegetable products.  Imagine his outrage when he found out that a McDonalds in his hometown of Liverpool was hanging up pictures of The Beatles inside their establishment.  Actually, he’s reportedly “furious” over McDonalds using the pictures in their attempt to “flog burgers”.

Geoff Baker, Macca’s spokesman had this to say about the meaty McDonalds mess..

“What sort of morons do McDonalds think Beatles fans are? It’s ridiculous and insulting to use images to peddle hamburgers. Fans should boycott McDonalds - and not just in Liverpool.”

PETA has even stuck their two cents in, urging people to ditch the Big Macs and choose McDonalds veggie burgers instead.  I didn’t even know they had veggie burgers on their menu!

Of course there’s an explanation for all this hoopla.  A McDonalds spokesperson has said that the pictures hanging in the restaurant were put there to…

“acknowledge the outstanding contribution The Beatles made to both local and global culture”.

Now I can see where they’re coming from, but c’mon.  They should know, as does any Beatles and Paul McCartney fan, that he’s a strict vegetarian and why the hell would he condone his image hanging in a place that’s all about meat.
