Those of us who have been waiting with baited breath for the release of U2’s new CD will have to wait just a bit longer. The disc will  now be released in the early stages of 2009, rather than over the holiday season, which was the original plan. U2 has written fifty to sixty tacks worth of material as they worked on this project. Says Bono:

“We’ve hit a rich songwriting vein and we don’t want to stop,”

As for the release date being pushed back, Bono stated:

“If it was just up to me they’d be out already! But early next year people will be able to start hearing what we’ve been doing. We want 2009 to be our year.”

We’ve waited this long for this CD…what’s a few more months? I’m sure it will be worth the wait!
