Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson And Others Team Up For ‘Heroes’ Album
September 22nd, 2008A new album in the works entitled ‘Heroes’, will be released on November 22nd and it promises to deliver something totally different. The charity War Child will benefit from the musical contributions of great names like Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, David Bowie, Bob Dylan, and The Clash.
All of these artists, and then some, have chosen songs from their back catalalogues to be covered by young and hip present day artists like The Kooks, Rufus Wainwright and Duffy, who has been chosen by Paul McCartney to cover his huge hit ‘Live and Let Die’. Bob Dylan even asked Beck to cover his song’Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat’.
Paul McCartney had this to say about the new project…
“I have been supporting War Child since 1995. Their work with children in war zones saves lives and their work with those who take decisions that help them to do something about it saves even more lives.
“I think Duffy’s version of ‘Live And Let Die’ is great - I was really impressed. The breadth of talent on this project is amazing; it’s great that so many people gave their time, energy and support to this initiative. I urge everyone to support War Child.”
Sounds interesting, doesn’t it? You’ll have to wait until November 22nd to have a listen though. Hey, might even make a good Christmas present for that hard- to- buy -for music lover on your list!
