Paul McCartney Tells Quebec Nationalists to Smoke ‘the Pipes of Peace’

July 17th, 2008

Sir Paul McCartney is reportedly telling his critics of his upcoming show in Quebec City to “smoke the pipes of peace.” Apparently, Macca told Radio-Canada on Thursday that he doesn’t under Quebec nationalists who say his presence is out of place at Quebec City’s 400th birthday celebrations. Some nationalists have been trying to say the former Beatle shouldn’t be playing in Quebec because of the battle between Britain and the French in Quebec in 1750s.

Paul basically thinks their argument is illogical and so do I. Hello, peace has been made since then!

Macca says he’s looking forward to the gig and hopes everyone will have the best night of their lives.

I’m certainly looking forward to it.
