There was a bit of a battle brewing between the forces that handle Paul McCartney versus those that handle Celine “The Screamer” Dion. Paul will be giving a free concert in Quebec City in a location that holds around 250,000 people. Dion’s concert, which was to take place at the same location Macca will be using, will take place on August 22, but has to be moved to a locale that could hold “only” 100,000 because the original site is already slated to be transformed into a nineteenth century golf course. It’s all part of the fun and festivities planned for the celebration of Quebec’s 400th birthday. Needless to say, Dion’s mamager/husband and personal svengali, Rene Angelil, was “shocked” that the missus (a native of Quebec, mind you) and her show were being relegated to a locale of lesser capacity than where Sir Paul would be playing. Not to worry though, because as it turns out, the site where Macca will be playing actually holds 70,000, but with surrounding areas included, the numbers could increase to a 250,00 person capacity. Celine’s location, while holding less that the site that Macca will be using, actually is four times larger than the Macca site, so I guess that makes everything okay. Celine will potentially have more fans attending her show than Macca will have attending his. Confused? Of course. Who the hell cares about this anyway. Is it some kind of contest to see who gets the most fans? Leave it to Mr. Celine Dion to raise a stink, as he’s known for this type of behaviour.

Whew! I’m glad that’s settled! We should all be able to sleep a little easier tonight knowing that all parties concerned in this are satisfied with the outcome, especially  the Diva Dion. Heaven forbid she doesn’t get what she wants.
