Macca Plays for Thousands in Quebec

July 21st, 2008

Paul McCartney took to the stage on the Plains of Abraham in Quebec City Sunday night, as part of the  400th birthday celebration of Quebec. The free concert by Macca, which has been surrounded in controversy due to Quebec nationalists who protested the appearance of an Englishman as part of their celebrations, was expected to draw an estimated 200,000 plus fans. Paul opened the show with the Wings classic “Jet” after which he greeted the crowd in French. The concert was heavy on Beatles classics, and of course, a few newer McCartney numbers.  He was expected to perform some 36 songs over the course of the two hour concert. The last time Sir Paul performed in Canada was in 2005.
