Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon Still Sells!
July 31st, 2008After 31 years, Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ is still selling big! Believe it or not, it’s now at over 1,615 weeks on the charts. Incredible, isn’t it?
The legendary album is currently on the Billboard’s Catalog instead of the Top 200 Albums which pisses off Roger Waters. He explained:
“The only reason it’s not on the charts anymore is because they changed the rules. It’s not allowed to be on the charts. Billboard introduced a rule which said no album that’s been out for more than 10 years is allowed to appear in the 200 because the business decided that the chart is a selling tool and they don’t need that tool to sell ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ or ‘Hotel California’ or the other classic albums. So they thought, ‘Well let’s make a separate chart for those and not allow them to have space on the real chart’ because those albums would all still be there.”
I don’t blame him for being pissed, it doesn’t seem right. They should allow any albums to be on the “real chart.”
