Saturday, May 31st, 2008

Paul McCartney

Sir Paul McCartney will be a very busy boy on Sunday. Aside from playing his concert in Liverpool, he’ll be paying a visit to his daughter Stella’s showing of her latest fashion collection at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. He says he feels it is his “fatherly duty” to be there for Stella, despite the fact that his visit will take place just hours before his own performance.

Joked Paul “What’s a dad to do?”

Led Zeppelin’s Tour Promoter Denies Canada Tour Dates

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Robert Plant

Led Zeppelin’s tour promoter has reportedly denied hopes for a few live dates in Canada and insists the Toronto dates were just false “rumors.”

On Canada’s Much More Music website claimed that the rockers were going to do four shows at the Skydome/Rogers Centre in August.

Debra Rathwell, a spokeswoman for the band’s gig promoters Anschutz Entertainment Group Live, has dismissed the reports as hearsay, insisting there is no such tour planned. She explained:

“Alison Krauss and Robert Plant are touring together till at least the end of July, and Plant has made it perfectly clear that he doesn’t want to tour with Led Zeppelin. Of course, stranger things have happened, but I can tell you that my office is not involved in any Led Zeppelin concerts in Toronto or anywhere else.”

Robert Plant is still currently on tour with Alison Krauss promoting their album “Raising Sands” with shows in the U.S. and Europe.

Damn! I had my hopes up!!!

Bono Helps Japanese Tree Planters in Tokyo

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Bono

Surrounded by excited children, Bono led by example when he helped plant saplings as part of an environmental intiative project in Tokyo this week. Slipping on a pair of gloves, the 48-year-old Dubliner knelt on the ground and got to work with a shovel.

While the globe-trotting musician and campaigner kept the delighted youngsters entertained by holding a spade accessorised with his ubiquitous sunglasses in front of his face, he had a serious message for the adults present, encouraging them to speak out about the environmental issues concerning them.

Bono was also presented with an honorary doctorate from Keio University in Tokyo in recognition of his efforts to stamp out poverty in the developing world.

Paul McCartney Forgives Piers Morgan

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Paul McCartney

Sir Paul McCartney has forgiven Piers Morgan for introducing him to Heather Mills.

The Beatles legend was introduced to the former model at a charity event in 1999 by ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ judge Piers, and the pair started dating and got married.

However, they split in 2006 - leading to one of the biggest divorces in recent times.

But McCartney has finally forgiven Morgan for the introduction.

Morgan said:

“He does joke about it! There’s video footage of him at the awards in 1999, nudging me and asking who Heather is! But I’m very sad the way that it turned out. I quite liked Heather to start with and thought they’d be a good mix, with her campaigning, vegetarianism and stuff. But the way she just ended up fleecing him was totally disgusting.”

Heather ended up being awarded approximately $48 million but wanted more.

Pete Best Hopes to Reunite with Paul McCartney

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Pete Best

Pete Best, the first drummer for The Beatles is still hoping for a reunion with Sir Paul McCartney, his former bandmate he hasn’t seen for over 40 years. Best was replaced by Ringo Starr in 1962.

Best hopes that he and Macca will be able to revive their friendship one day because he believes they were good friends before being cut from the Fab Four. He explained:

“I would like to see Paul one more time in my life, just to catch up. Talk about our kids and grandkids, compare notes on where we’ve been and where we’re going. It was Paul who actually talked the others into letting me into the band because he thought I was a good fit - and they couldn’t find another decent drummer at the time. You know, as old friends go, people move in their own directions and you lose touch. We were kids back when we really hung out.”

So much time has passed and it might be too weird to become friends again, but it might be nice to see them meet again and reminisce about the good old days.

Ringo Loses His Head

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Ringo Starr

Last week, vandals got at a garden sculpture of The Beatles in their home town of Liverpool and chopped the head off the figure of Ringo Starr. The figure was removed and taken to a nursery for repair.

Could this incident have anything to do with the less-than-flattering things that Ringo recently let fly concerning the city where he was born and raised?????

John Lennon

Liverpool will be the scene this week as the art collection of John Lennon goes on display. The free exhibition will be shown until June 2, in what is thought to be the largest collection of John’s art ever to hit the UK. 15 original drawings as well as 3 exclusive new images will be part of it, with works dating back to 1968, and up until the time of his passing in 1980. Yoko’s company, Bag One, helped organize all of this loveliness.

I’m so excited to be able to see this next week. There’s going to be alot going on in Liverpool, that’s for sure! btw, some of John’s pieces will be for sale, with prices starting at approximately $800 USD, all the way up to $9,000 USD! Wow, I guess I’d better bring my checkbook and my brand new credit card, eh?
