Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards modeled for Louis Vuitton’s latest advertising campaign photographed by Annie Leibovitz.

At the Daily Mail where the ad can be seen, Keith is shown cradling his guitar in a hotel room he has transformed by draping black scarves with skull motifs over the lamps and placing a skull on a bedside table. The tagline is:

“Some journeys cannot be put into words. New York. 3 am. Blues in C.”

Antoine Arnault, Head of Communications for Louis Vuitton, said:

“Keith Richards needs absolutely no introduction. He is a global icon, an inspiration to millions, and we are honoured that - after Mikhail Gorbachev, Catherine Deneuve, Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi - he has agreed to represent Louis Vuitton. This is the first time ever that Keith Richards has participated in an advertising campaign of any sort, and it is hard to imagine a more compelling embodiment of a personal, emotional journey.”

Louis Vuitton is making a donation to The Climate Project, spearheaded by Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore, on behalf of Keith Richards.

Robert Plant has reportedly turned down a deal for $200 million to have Led Zeppelin tour. According to the Mirror, Plant rejected the offer in order concentrate on his partnership with Alison Krauss. Even though the legendary rockers performed in December 2007, causing high demand for them more shows, they’ve refused to confirm any more dates. A source told the Mirror:

“Jimmy (Page, guitarist) had enjoyed the concert in December enough to want to tour again. He argued they still had something to offer. John (Paul, bassist) sided with Jimmy. He loved making music with the others again. But Robert wanted to leave last year’s concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough.”

Damn!
