Hi everybody,
Happy New Year!
I hope it’s a great one for all of us.
There’s been a lot of stuff in the newspapers over the past few months and as most of it is completely inaccurate, I have not bothered to deny any of it.
There is one report though, that is causing concern amongst many friends of mine which was a recent report about a heart operation that I was supposed to have had.
People are ringing and texting me saying “are you ok?” and I hadn’t seen the report so I was puzzled by so many enquiries about my health. So I think it’s a good time to put this rumour to rest. What happened was, over a year ago during a routine medical examination, there was a minor irregularity which I needed to have tests for and which I have now been assured is completely fine. The media have only just recently reported an exaggerated version of this and that is why people have been asking me if I am ok. So this is where the story has come from. The media reports have, as usual, completely distorted the story, calling it an angioplasty, which is entirely untrue, and this is why so many friends have been concerned about my health.
I’m happy to say that I feel great and I have passed my most recent medical with flying colours.
I would like to thank all of you and my friends and relatives for your concern and I’m very happy to put your minds at rest, although I have secretly been enjoying all the sympathy I’ve been getting!
Once again, happy new year and remember…don’t believe everything you read in the media.
I look forward to a rocking 2008!
Love,
Paul
Happy New Year too Sir Paul!

24 April to 19 July 2008
Monday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm
Saturday 10 am to 4 pmJames Hyman Gallery, 5 Savile Row, London, W1S 3PD,
Telephone 0207 494 3857, info@jameshymangallery.com, www.jameshymangallery.comJames Hyman Gallery and Paul McCartney are delighted to announce an exhibition of photographs by Linda McCartney.
This is the first major exhibition of platinum prints by Linda McCartney to be presented in the UK. With the full support of Paul McCartney and his family, this exhibition is the result of a three-year collaboration with gallerist and art historian James Hyman.
Paul McCartney says: “An exhibition presenting the range of Linda’s photographic work is long overdue, so I’m obviously pleased that this show is happening. James Hyman, my daughter Mary, and I have worked on it now for three years, and the result is a sensitive selection of works that really demonstrates Linda’s creative output as a photographer. The photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist, but as someone who was very much connected to the culture of the times, and wasn’t afraid to challenge herself, or her subject.”
Photographed from the 1960s up until the late 1990s, these pictures present a personal record of the times and feature many rarely seen works, as well as better known images.
The exhibition includes portraits of Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel, Gilbert & George and Mick Jagger. It also presents landscapes, intimate interiors, self-portraits and family life.
To ensure each photographic print remains true to Linda McCartney’s vision Paul Caffell (with whom she worked throughout her career) has personally printed each platinum print, whilst Paul and Mary McCartney oversaw the process and gave final approval.
Beautifully presented as large platinum prints, the photographs are for sale in very limited editions, and authenticated with a certificate signed by Paul McCartney.
In addition, a catalogue will be available with personal contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Peter Blake, Brian Clarke, Humphrey Ocean and Paul Caffell.

A recently published UN report has come to my attention. This report contains information that I, personally, find quite amazing and I’d like to share it with you. The report (Livestock’s Long Shadow) contains one clear message; it states that the single most effective act that any individual can currently do to lessen the effects of global warming is to become vegetarian. That this message comes directly from an authoritative body such as the UN (whose member states, it should be remembered, are not generally considered vegetarian) rather than an organisation committed to vegetarianism is significant.
You may know that for over 30 years I have been interested in the promotion of vegetarianism and my own feelings were sparked by a simple compassion for animals. What I think is especially compelling, is that this report should now encourage everybody to ‘do their bit’ for the planet. The evidence that the report gives is, frankly, stunning. It points directly to the striking detrimental effects of excessive livestock farming on the environment. For instance:
“Livestock are one of the most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems of today” says Henning Steinfeld of the UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO). “Urgent action is required to remedy the situation.”
• “70% of former forests in the Amazon have been turned over to grazing.”
• “Livestock now use 30% of the entire world’s land surface.”
“Cattle rearing is also a major source of land and water degradation.” (FAO report Livestock’s Long Shadow- Environmental Issues & Options).
“When emissions from land use and land use change are included (i.e. deforestation), the livestock sector accounts for 9% of CO2 deriving from human-related activities, but produces a much larger share of even more harmful greenhouse gases. It generates 65% of human-related nitrous oxide, which has 296 times the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of CO2.”
“The livestock business is among the most damaging sectors to the earth’s increasingly scarce water resources, contributing among other things to water pollution…from animal wastes, antibiotics and hormones, chemicals from tanneries, fertilizers and the pesticides used to sprayed crops.”
Ok, this may sound like me banging on about vegetarianism again but this time, these facts come straight from the UN and I wonder if you, like me, think that they are significant enough to be taken seriously. By simply considering altering eating habits people can strike a blow for the environment, our children and the future. Such facts and data as those listed above can’t be ignored.
I hope this statement doesn’t seem too heavy-handed but I think this recent news is important enough to take notice of.
Many thanks for reading this.
Cheers,
Paul McCartney
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comSir Paul McCartney reportedly dished out about $16,000 on birthday gifts for Heather Mills. Sadly, she was said to be hiring a firm to spy on him, hoping to find some dirt that could help her with her divorce case. Apparently, Paul was trying to show some kindness by having his driver deliver birthday gifts to Mills which included a $4,000 Cartier watch, a $10,000 gift card from Harvey Nichols, plus bags full of top-of-the-line beauty products. His handwritten card said:
“Have an amazing day, despite what’s happened. Hope we can be friends. P x.”
According to News of the World, Heather is trying to get some video footage of Paul drunk during the day to prove their daughter would not be best placed with him.
I wouldn’t put it past that bitch to really do this after Paul tried extend an olive branch to her. How sad for Beatrice to have a mother like that!

Go here to watch Ringo Starr’s video for his new single Liverpool 8.
Ringo’s new album Liverpool 8 will be out on January 15th!
photo courtesy of PR Photos/www.prphotos.comHeather Mills was said to be pissed off when she saw Sir Paul McCartney performing with Kylie Minogue on New Year’s Eve for Jools Holland’s annual Hogmany show. According to the Mirror, Mills was in tears when she watched her ex and Kylie hugging on the show. A friend revealed:
“She’s really mad about the way Paul got close to Kylie,” a ‘friend’ told the newspaper. She reckons he did it on purpose and feels it was a deliberate public dig at her. She thinks he’s just trying to prove a point, that he’s moved on and is comfortable around other women. She was so hurt she burst into tears.”
A source close to Paul claims that he admires the way Kylie coped with breast cancer and returned to the public eye after recovering:
“Paul really admires Kylie. He has an affinity with her. The way she coped with cancer with dignity reminds him of Linda. She’s the complete opposite to Heather.”
Check out Paul and Kylie’s performance, here.
I hope Heather was dying with envy watching Paul have a great time on stage with Kylie.
Kylie Mingoue was so lucky to share the stage with Sir Paul McCartney as they sange a duet for Jools Holland’s New Year special on BBC2. Click on the video above to hear them sing “Dance Tonight” from Paul’s latest album. If Paul really had heart surgery, he certainly looks like he recovered quickly!
What a great performance by Paul!
